Aston tops FT at States

Franklin Township lost its second straight game in the Pennsylvania State 13-15 year-old Babe Ruth Tournament on Thursday, dropping a 12-2 decision to Aston Valley.

Aston Valley scored in every atbat on its way to the five-inning mercy-rule win.

Aston Valley had just six hits in the game, but benefitted from numerous walks six Franklin Township errors.

Carl Moreilli had two hits and scored a pair of runs to lead Aston Valley offensively.

For Franklin Township, Dan Berger had two hits while Damian Richard, Nick Shaffer and Dan Daily all chipped in one hit.

Franklin Township will play its third game in the nine-team pool play elimination round today at 1 p.m. against Ridley. Franklin closes out pool play on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Phoenixville.

The top four teams in the pool play round will advance to Monday's semifinals. The championship game is scheduled for Tuesday.
