Yuengling granted extension for addition to its brewery
The D.G.Y. Real Estate Limited Partners, who operate the oldest brewery in the nation that produces Yuengling beer, was granted a three month extension by the Schuylkill County Planning Commission for its land development of a fermentation building extension at its brewery in Port Carbon.
At its monthly meeting held Wednesday evening at the courthouse in Pottsville the planning board ruled it is withholding final approval until it receives the decision of the Port Carbon Zoning Hearing Board whether it approves the plans. The planning board wants a letter from the borough zoning officer indicating if the plan meets all regulations of the borough zoning ordinance and letters from the sewer and water authorities if they can serve the land development.
A third extension of time was granted to Eagle Rock Resorts Company's Algonquian Valley subdivision plan in North Union Township. The planning board seeks additional information on the change from the original plan which included a lake which was never developed.
Final approval was given to SCA Company, Girardville, to subdivide 7,500 square feet in the borough for one single family home and a row of homes.
The planning board reviewed a number of subdivision plans presented to local planning board and had no comment and returned the plans for final approval. Reviewed were:

Ansbach to annex two lots in Rush Township; final development plan of Shenandoah Valley School District for addition to a school building; final plan of Doretta L. Carriglitto to annex one lot in East Brunswick Township; preliminary and development plan of Signature Springs, L.L.C., Barnesville, for an office building and warehouse for bottling water in East Union Township; final plan of Albert H. and Joy E. H. Cheese and Gary L. and Vanna D. Frantz for one lot annexation in West Penn Township; and final plan of Russek Family Limited for three lots annexation in Blythe Township.
The commission also reviewed applications submitted to state agencies for various projects as follows:
Signature Springs, LLC, seeking permission from Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for construction of 58,830 square foot building at 12 Industrial Road, Brandonville, East Union Township.
Schuylkill County Municipal Authority is seeking two permits from DEP, one for SR61 North Corridor and the second for SR895 Pine Creek South Corridor, both in West Brunswick Township, for collection and conveyance of a sanitary sewer system in the township.
Ashland Public Library filed an application to USDA Rural Development seeking a grant for renovations to its library.
Municipal Authority of Shenandoah filed an application to the Commonwealth Financing Authority for a grant for improvement to its water supplies.
There is a time change for the Aug. 18 planning board meeting. Instead of meeting at 6 p.m. in the engineer room at the courthouse in Pottsville there will be a public hearing held at that hour in Courtroom One to receive input on proposed changes and additions to the county zoning ordinance. After the public meeting the commission will hold its regular meeting to take action on any proposals received. The adopted updated zoning ordinance will then be presented at a public meeting of the county commissioners for final adoption.
