There's a move in Harrisburg to transform I-80 and a portion of I-70 into state-owned and operated toll roads, such as is the case in Ohio, Indiana, and some other states. The Carbon County Planning Commission was apprised of this in a Pa. Toll Roads Feasibility Study being conducted by the governor's Toll Roads Task Force. The 11-member body, who members are appointed by Governor Dick Thornburgh, has gone on record in support of the conversion plan.
