Invasive insects program scheduled at Locust Lake

Published July 13. 2010 05:00PM

Frank Snyder, a member of the Bureau of Forestry, invites area residents to join him for an educational program July 17 in the Locust Lake amphitheater at 7 p.m.

The program will focus on alien insects that are invading our forests. Attendees will learn to identify the Asian Long Horned Beetle and the Emerald Ash Borer. Helpful hints to reduce the spread of these insects will also be discussed.

Snyder will also talk about transporting firewood and why it is a harmful practice for our forests. A forestry souvenir will be given to young campers. Shine only.
