State police at Lehighton are investigating an armed robbery attempt that occurred early this morning in Monroe County.

Troopers said about 1 a.m. three black males forced their way into Room 4 at the Gateway Motel, located along Old Route 115, in Ross Township, and confronted the occupant, David G. Williams, 55.
