The Tamaqua Salvation Army held their annual Volunteer Appreciation and Advisory Board Dinner recently at the Salvation Army. In addition to the recognition of volunteers, entertainment was provided by the Tamaqua Salvation Army Band and the Tamaqua Corps member's instrumental dance ensemble. Tamaqua Salvation Army Captains Gary and Joyce Thornton, who are being transferred to their next duty station/Corps, were presented with a departure plaque from the advisory board. Esther Stofocik, Tamaqua Salvation Army secretary/case worker was also presented with a long-time service award from Cpatains Gary and Joyce Thornton. The guest speaker was Rep. Jerry Knowles (R-Berks/Schuylkill).
