Scouts enjoy productive week at camp
SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS
New Scouts and first time summer campers Daniel Simmons and Eric Fischer, prepare to lower and fold the American flag, under the watchful eye of Senior Scout Adam Kimmel. The is the sixth year that 24 Scouts and four leaders from BSA Troop 555, Jim Thorpe, returned to Resica Falls Scout Reservation in East Stroudsburg for camp, earning 113 Merit Badges; 22 of them being more difficult Eagle Rank required badges. The theme this year was "Resica Renaissance." Camp staff members were dressed as kings, knights and jesters and the like, and the Scouts spent their free time honing period-appropriate skills, such as sling-shots, catapults, archery, javelins and tomahawk throwing. "As is always the case, the camp staff did a phenomenal job with their program," said Scoutmaster Ray Attewell. "The badge stations and courses were run efficiently, and the extra curricular activities kept the Scouts running, and happy, from sun-up to well after dark."
