Tractor trailer rolls, Turnpike closed

The south bound lanes of the Northeast Extension of the Turnpike were closed early Monday morning when a tractor trailer rolled onto its side. The crash was originally reported at the 82 mile marker but was later discovered to be at the 88.2 mile marker in Penn Forest Township. Firefighters of the Franklin Township Fire Company extricated the driver from the wreckage. The rig was hauling food goods. A report from the scene was a fuel tank had collapsed in the crash. The turnpike officials initiated a "plan x" in shutting down the south bound lanes until the wreckage could be removed. State police at Pocono are investigating the incident.
