Woman's body found in Lansford

Lansford police are investing the death of a woman whose body was found Thursday in the basement of a house at 219 W. Water St.

According to police, the woman apparently had died some time ago.

Her former husband found the body on the basement floor when he stopped by, said Police Chief John Turcmanovich.

An autopsy was scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Police are withholding the woman's identity pending the outcome of the autopsy.
