PenTeleData, Blue Ridge Communications donation aids Slatington Trailhead project

Published January 25. 2010 05:00PM

Slatington's Trailhead project is one step closer to completion courtesy of a joint donation from PenTeleData and Blue Ridge Communications.

The project, expected to cost about $105,000, is being undertaken in an effort to better accommodate an estimated 36,000 people who use the trail each year for hiking, walking, biking and cross-country skiing.

It entails renovations to the land and construction of a railroad-style trailhead building, including modern bathroom facilities, a heated meeting room, a pavilion to stop and rest, and a parking area, all of which are vital to the eight trails that intersect in the area.

The construction of the building at Main and Railroad Streets is a project of the Venture Group, a coalition of local businesses, community groups and nonprofit organizations working together for the good of the Northern Lehigh area.

The entire project relies on volunteered time and monetary donations. Anyone who would like to make a donation can contact Jason Breidinger, Venture Group Chairman, at
