Woman assaulted in Summit Hill

Published January 21. 2010 05:00PM

A man matching the description of a burglar who tried to enter a Summit Hill home has been implicated in an assault on a resident that happened Tuesday.

At about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, a female resident was putting out trash at the corner of Market and White streets when a male approached from behind and grabbed her by the hair. She turned around and kicked him and he fled. The woman described the man as being about 5-feet 11-inches and 6-feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a dark hoodie and jeans.

On Monday night, a man matching that description allegedly broke into an East fell Street home at 9:40 p.m., startling the homeowner. Police from Summit Hill and Lansford looked for, but did not find, the man.

Police said there were a total of two attempted entries and two entries into borough homes Sunday night into Monday.

Police are reminding residents to keep their cars and home doors locked, be alert when outside at night and to immediately call 911 if they see or hear anything suspicious.
