A Schuylkill County resident is facing charges of simple assault and harassment following an incident outside of a county bar.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Bret Reifsnyder, 23, of Orwigsburg, and Tyler Haas, 23, of Schuylkill Haven, were exiting Michael B's Bar and Grill, located along SR61, in West Brunswick Township, about 2:15 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, when, for unknown reasons, Haas grabbed Reifsnyder by the back of his jacket and shoved him against a concrete wall. He then struck Reifsnyder in the face three times until he fell to the ground.

Haas then began to kick the victim one time and then slammed the victim's head on the ground. Following the assault Hass helped Reifsnyder to his feet and apologized and offered to buy him a beer. Troopers said the victim and accused shook hands and Haas told Reifsnyder, "We settled it; I don't have a problem with you any more. We're cool now." Reifsnyder suffered swelling to both eye and behind his left ear and a cut abovbe his right eye.

Troopers said charges will be filed against Haas.
