At least three persons were injured Thursday evening when involved in a crash at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Route 209, Franklin Township. The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. involving a car and a sport utility vehicle, a Jeep. The car came to rest facing eastbound against a set of guardrails. The Jeep rolled onto its side on Maple Avenue with the roof area against the guardrails making it difficult for members of the Franklin Township Fire Company to extricate the victim. Emergency personnel, police, firefighters and medics took only minutes to reach the scene as they were in the immediate area checking on a smoke condition called into the communications center. The victims were treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to area hospitals. Franklin Township fire police closed northbound 209 maintaining traffic control at the scene. Franklin Township police are investigating the incident.
