Caregivers Support

Sponsored in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Association, the Caregiver's Support Group will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, at the Loder Building in East Stroudsburg.

This gives caregivers an opportunity to get support from trained facilitators and share their experiences with other caregivers.

Practice begins

The Pleasant Valley Choral Society, a community chorus, will begin rehearsal this week at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville. Auditions for new members will be held both this week and next at 6:30 p.m., preceding rehearsal.

Breakfast speaker

Peggy Howarth, executive director Monroe County Transit Authority, will be the featured speaker at the first meeting of 2010 of the Monroe County Council on Inclusion.

The breakfast is being held from 8:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 7, at the Ch'teau Resort & Conference Center in Tannersville.

The Monroe County Council On Inclusion,, provides a permanent vehicle that brings together leaders and citizens from an increasingly diverse county in a sustained effort to preempt bias and promote harmonious solutions.

Membership in the group is by extended invitation to those individuals who have demonstrated an interest and commitment to the improvement of intra-group relations in the county. Members meet on the first Thursday of the month at the Ch'teau Resort & Conference Center, which underwrites the monthly breakfast. All Sports Club

Monday, Jan. 11, at 7:30 p.m. is the time the Pleasant Valley All Sports Club will meet at the high school library.

Chestnuthill PTO

The Chestnuthill PTO is slated to meet at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12.

Special travels

The Rev. D. Hoffman, associate pastor at Effort UMC, is traveling to the Holy Land. Lisa and Greg Magill are traveling to Kenya.


Condolences to the family and friends of Ron Dietrich. His impact on the West End Fair, on fire police wherever he served, and in many other facets of community life will be long remembered.
