Four TN area matmen draw top D-11 seeds

The brackets for this weekend's District 11 Wrestling Championships have been released, and four TIMES NEWS area grapplers have drawn number one seeds in their respective weight classes.

The Class AA tournament is scheduled for Freedom High School in Bethlehem, while the AAA field will be held at Bethlehem Liberty. The AAA and AA championship finals will be held at Liberty.The preliminaries, quarterfinals and first round consolations are scheduled for Friday night, with the semifinals, finals and subsequent consolation rounds for Saturday.If the weather postpones the competition on Friday, the tournaments will be moved to Saturday and Sunday.Drawing top seeds in Class AA are Nikko Stevens and Colin Hedash of Northern Lehigh at 135 and 171, respectively, while Garth Lakitsky of Tamaqua is ranked first at 189.The other TN area number one seed is in AAA, where Pleasant Valley's Jordan Toledo is top ranked at 130.Wrestlers drawing number two seeds in AA are Northwestern's Dylan Long (112), Tamaqua's Kolby Mashack (130), Jim Thorpe's Dillon Smith (145), No. Lehigh's Craemer Hedash (152), Panther Valley's Mike Weaver (160) and Lehighton's Briar Stern (285).In AAA, Pleasant Valley's Mike Pokrinchak (125) and Jake Chamberlain (135) are seeded second.Seeded third in AA are Panther Valley's Nick O'Donnell (103), Northwestern's Eddie Faust (125) and Lehighton's David Lucykanish (152).The top four placewinners at each weight class in AA advance to next week's Southeast Regional with Districts 1 and 3 at Wilson West Lawn High School. The top six finishers at each AAA class will move on to next week's Northeast Regional with Districts 2 and 4 at Freedom High.The PIAA State Championships will be held at Hershey's Giant Center March 11-13.For complete brackets, check the District 11 website at
