Nesquehoning VFW Ladies Auxiliary meets

The regular monthly meeting of the Nesquehoning VFW Ladies Auxiliary was held Tuesday, Feb. 9 at the Post Home. President Cathy Sommers presided.

Before the meeting, the post and auxiliary presented awards for the Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Programs, followed by refreshments and a social hour.

Members were reminded dues are now past due.

The Annual Loyalty Day program will be held on Saturday, May 1. A Miller Bloodmobile collection was held at the Post Home on Wednesday, Feb. 17. Information on the 61st Anniversary Dinner will be available at the next meeting. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, March 27, at noon, at the Post Home. A sign up sheet is available at the Post Home for children and grandchildren of all members. Sign up deadline is March 21.

District 20 will meet on Sunday, Feb. 21, in Albrightsville.

Donations were made to the Junior Girls Conference, the Department Arthritis Fund and the Easter Egg hunt. President Sommers announced her son had recently returned home safely from Iraq.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 6:30 p.m., at the Post Home. All members are encouraged to attend since the Auxiliary is approaching its busiest time of the year and planning and assistance will be needed for upcoming projects and events.
