Published February 05. 2010 05:00PM

Mauch Chunk Trust Company is again planning to honor people who dedicate their time and talent in volunteer activities for the good of the community. Mauch Chunk Trust developed the "Community Heroes" program to recognize the people, who through volunteer activities in local civic and nonprofit organizations make their local community a better place to live.

This is the 11th year of this program.

Nominees are being sought from the Carbon County and Tamaqua Area communities, local organizations and from past heroes. These "Community Hereos" will be recognized at a banquet held in their honor.

As part of the recognition, Mauch Chunk Trust Company will present each hero with an inscribed plaque and $100 will be given in the hero's name to an organization of their choice. Each person along with a brief biography will also appear in THE TIMES NEWS.

Nominations are being accepted until March 30 by Deborah Bamford at 1111 North St., Jim Thorpe, Pa. 18229. For more information, call Bamford at (570) 325-0410.
