Jim Thorpe student cited

A Jim Thorpe Senior High School student has been cited for assault following an incident at the school.

Borough police were dispatched to the school on Wednesday, Feb. 3, about 8:15 a.m. to a complaint of a fight.

Through an investigation police learned that a 17-year-old male student, who was being escorted to the main office after being involved in another fight, went after another student who was walking in the cafeteria.

While teachers were attempting to restrain the student he struck a teacher with his fist several times. The student was taken into custody and charged with aggravated and simple assault, persistent disorderly conduct, harassment and disorderly conduct.
