Nesquehoning police reported on arrests made by officers in recent days.

Officer Robert Blisard arrested a 15-year-old female juvenile for retail theft at Redner's Market. The incident occurred on Jan. 2. The merchandise involved was valued at $3.69.

Chief Sean Smith filed a bad check charge against Sheri McFarland, 134 W. Railroad St., Nesquehoning, on information received from Tammy Leaver. Leaver said McFarland gave her a check for $50.09 on Dec. 5, 2009, and it was returned for lack of funds.

Smith also arrested Matthew Desrochers, an inmate at the county prison, on a fugitive from justice warrant. Smith learned from prison officials that Desrochers was wanted in Rochinham County, New Hampshire, for felony theft. He was arraigned before District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek, of Lansford, and returned to the county prison to await extradition to N.H.

During the period of Jan. 20-27, Officer Brian White issued three traffic citations for passing in a no passing zone along SR54; speeding on SR209 at Oak St., 44 miles-per-hour in a 25 zone; and passing in a no passing zone along SR209 at SR93.
