Two persons were injured in a crash Dec. 29 at 4:28 p.m. at the intersection of route 901 and 209 in Norweigan Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Kevin Tribble, 40, of Minersville, and Albert Ondeck, 43, of Pottsville, were hurt in the crash.

Police said Tribble was driving a 1992 Ford Explorer north on Route 209 and attempted to turn left onto Route 901 when the vehicle was struck by a 2001 Hyundai Accent operated by Ondeck. The latter was eastbound on Route 901 at the time.

Police said the front end of Ondeck's vehicle struck the left side of the Explorer. After the initial impact, the Explorer continued to travel north across the road in the westbound lane and came to rest against the guide rail. The Accent traveled northeast, spinning around 90 degrees and coming to rest in the intersection.

Police said both vehicles were severely damaged and required towing from the scene. The westbound lane of Route 901 was closed for about 45 minutes.
