Summit Hill Lions make donations

The Summit Hill Lions Club made donations to three organizations during a presentation Thursday night at the Summit Hill Community Center. Lions members, back, from left, Judy Midas, chairwoman of the club's scholarship committee, Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, and Joseph O'Gurek, treasurer, presented $200 donations to The Salvation Army, Tamaqua, and the Summit Hill Recreation Commission and Fiore Department. Accepting the funds on behalf of their organizations were, front, from left, Jese Gindhart, kettle coordinator, and Maj. Sharon Whispell, both of The Salvation Army, Monica Marshall, chairwoman of the recreation commission, and Larry Black and David Sommers, firemen. "This is a small way to say 'thank you' for what you do for our communities," Dr. Vermillion told the representatives of the groups receiving the funds.
