Children in Tamaqua were treated recently to the South Ward Playground Association's Annual Children's Christmas Party.

In addition to a visit with Santa, free cookies, snacks and refreshments, children had their faces painted.

Children were also given various holiday gifts, to include drawings for two bikes.

The community children's party was free to the public and held in the cafeteria of the Tamaqua Area Senior High School due to construction projects underway at the South Ward Playground.

Association President Kathy Kunkel and key volunteers pointed out their appreciation for all the volunteers and sponsors that help to keep this yearly holiday event running.

Special appreciation was also given to the Tamaqua Area School District for allowing the use of the cafeteria.
