Three teenagers - one from Palmerton and two from Kunkletown - were seriously injured in a violent crash Sunday night along Trachsville Hill road in Towmensing township. The crash occurred at 8:25 p.m. involving a car, a 1995 Monte Carlo, which took down several utility poles carrying power lines. Trooper Michael A. Walsh of the Lehighton barracks of the state police said one passenger, who was in the back seat, was ejected. Two medical transport helicopters, a MedEvac and a Penn Star, were utilized to transport the two of the injured to Lehigh Valley Trauma Centers. A third patient was transported by ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital. Trachsville Hill Road was closed from the time of the accident into later this morning. Due to the downed power lines, an electrical power outage was realized by area residents. Responding to the scene was the Towmensing Township Fire Company and their fire police who closed off Trachsville Hill road between state route 209 and Pohopoco Drive. The Palmerton EMS and Lehighton Ambulance also were dispatched, as was PennDOT, PPL Utilities, and Strohl's Towing. Police didn't release the name of the occupants because all are minors. The driver is listed as 17 years old and the two passengers are 18.
