Salon celebrates 5 years in business
TERRY AHNER/TIMES NEWS Wendy Borger (standing), owner of Beauty Salon in Bowmanstown, is shown with Hailey Anthony (center) of Lehighton, and William Muthard (right), 8, of Palmerton.
Better late than never.
For as long as she can remember, the opportunity to own her own beauty salon has always appealed to Wendy Borger.
Five years ago, that dream finally became a reality when she opened Wendy Borger's Beauty Salon at 334 White St., Bowmanstown.
In honor of the salon's five-year anniversary, family and friends attended a celebration held recently at the salon.
Surrounded by her peers, Borger said the salon is something she's always wanted.
"I've been doing hair for 24 years," Borger said. "So, to have it for five years has been a dream."
That she didn't start up her own shop sooner is a testament to her full-time job as a fleet administrator for Pencor Services, Borger said.
"That's because I have it too good at Pencor," she said.
Borger said customers will learn that she's fairly low priced, and added that many of her customers are from the Lehighton, Palmerton, and Slatington area.
She encouraged customers to pick up a hair cut club card, when, after 10 hair cuts, they can get any service $10 off.
The salon opens at 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and is open Saturday mornings. Call (610) 852-4247 to make an appointment.
