Crashes probed

State police at Lehighton reported on crashes investigated by troopers in recent days.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 7:19 a.m. on Dec. 2 along Hahns Dairy Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 17-year-old female from Palmerton was driving a 2000 Jeep Wrangler westbound when she encoutered "black ice" on the road which cause her to lose control. The Jeep left the road on the north side and traveled onto an embankment before overturning onto its passenger side.

The teen injured and taken to the Palmerton hospital by the Palmerton ambulance. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

A two vehicle crash occurred about 4:33 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, along SR209, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Darrell A. Ramos, 45, of Tobyhanna, failed to yield the right-of-way while attempting a left turn The front of his 2005 Dodge Durango struck the right rear of a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Patrick D. McNulty Jr., 41, of Stroudsburg, causing it to roll onto its roof.

No one was injured. Ramos was cited for stop signs and yield signs.

A one vehicle crash was reported on Dec. 2 about 6 a.m. along Pohopoco Drive, in Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Gavin R. Drewes, 27, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado westbound when he traveled into the eastbound lane and lost control on a patch of ice. The vehicle slid off the right side and struck an embankment along the berm head-on. The truck then re-entered the road and rolled onto its driver's side where it came to rest.

Drewes sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.

Troopers said a Saylorsburg driver is facing charges following a crash that occurred on Nov. 30 about 10:15 p.m. at 122 Beagle Run Road, in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Troopers said William H. Jones Jr., 20, was driving a 1998 Dodge Neon when he lost control while negotiating a curve. The car went onto the berm and struck a mailbox and small trees before flipping over onto its roof.

Troopers said Jones then fled the scene. Charges a pending, troopers added.

A hit and run was reported on Saturday, Dec. 4, about 10:32 a.m. Troopers said a 2003 Ford Econoline was traveling northbound on Molasses Valley Road, in Eldred Township, when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle turned left into a wooden fence. The driver fled the scene. Troopers said the vehicle had been reported stolen to state police at Fern Ridge and later recovered.
