Two Tamaqua men were arrested by Rush Township Police on Wednesday after officers discovered a large amount of drugs during a traffic stop.

At 12:06 a.m., officers made a traffic stop on SR309. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Dmitriy Partin of Tamaqua, appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. The vehicle, Partin and a passenger, Joseph Cierlitsky, also of Tamaqua, were all searched. Officers discovered 130 bags of suspected heroin, 10 Ecstasy pills and drug paraphernalia.

Partin was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for blood work and then arraigned before District Judge Anthony Kilker on charges of conspiracy to commit delivery of a controlled substance. He was unable to post the required $25,000 straight cash bail and was lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville. Further charges are pending results of the blood test.

Cierlitsky was also arraigned before DJ Kilker on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $20,000. Cierlitsky was also lodged in the Schuylkill County Prison.
