A man was seriously injured Wednesday evening in an accident along SR443 in the village of Normal Square, Mahoning Township. The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. as the victim was traveling east and another motorist was driving west and attempted to make a left turn onto Fritz Valley Road. In doing so he pulled into the path of the victim. The cars collided with the victim's car rolling several times, mounting a guard rail and plummeting over a bridge abutment. The car came to rest on its tail with the victim trapped inside. Mahoning Township and Lehighton firefighters extricated the victim from the wreckage. He was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then flown to a Lehigh Valley area hospital. Township police are investigating the incident.
