Woman injured in vehicle accident in Tamaqua

Around 8 a.m. today emergency crews were called to a one-vehicle accident that occurred around the 100-200 block of West Valley St., Walker Township, in Tamaqua. Reportedly, a deer ran out in front of the driver of a blue Pontiac Aztec, causing the driver to lose control and hit a utility pole. The female driver was taken to the hospital via ambulance. The road was closed for the duration of the incident. Emergency crews from the New England Valley Fire Company, Tamaqua South Ward Fire Company, Tamaqua Ambulance, Tamaqua Rescue, and Schuylkill Haven/Pottsville EMS responded. State police also responded.
