Weight restriction lifted on Kidder Twp. bridge

Published August 11. 2010 05:00PM

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today they have lifted the 11-ton weight restriction on the SR534 Bridge over Swamp Run in Kidder Township, Carbon County.

The weight restriction was posted on the bridge in March after an inspection showed deterioration to the bridge beams.

PennDOT maintenance crews recently completed work to reenforce the bridge beams.

The bridge is a steel I-beam bridge built in 1938 and is 33 feet long and 22 feet wide. This area has an average daily traffic of 1,039 vehicles.
