Take alternate routes to the Carbon County Fair

Published August 09. 2010 05:00PM

This year, due to construction on Route 248 related to the Turnpike bridge building, fair goers traveling from the Lehighton area can take an alternate route to avoid the traffic backups that are anticipated.

Bob Silliman, fair president, noted that those traveling from Lehighton, Weatherly, and coal region towns can cross over the Thomas McCall bridge in Lehighton and head north on Route 209, then turn right onto Forest Inn Road, travel through Aquashicola, bear left onto Little Gap Road and the fair is three miles on the right.

The fair will be held on August 11-15, 2010 on Little Gap Road in Palmerton, Pennsylvania. For more information about the fair, go to the website at or call (610) 826-1862. The fair is located three miles east of Palmerton. From Allentown, take Route 145 North to Route 248 West to the Palmerton Exit to Delaware Avenue. Stay on Delaware Avenue and go through Palmerton. At the Y, stay right, fairground is three miles on the right. From PA Turnpike, take exit 74 to 209 South to 248 East. Take Palmerton Exit and follow directions above. From Stroudsburg take 209 South and turn left on Forest Inn Road (just past Country Junction) through Aquashicola, bear left on to Little Gap Road, fair is three miles on right.
