Eldred Township Supervisors vote against merging and consolidating local governments
Clair Borger, Eldred Township supervisor chairman, said there was a pending bill in the state legislature about merging and consolidating local governments, (HB 2431, SB 1357.) He doesn't want to see that happen. He, and the other two supervisors, Sharon Solt and Gretchen Gannon Pettit asked township solicitor Michael Kaspszyk to draw up a resolution that voiced their opposition to forced local government mergers and consolidations.
Solt made the motion to accept Resolution 2010-5. It was seconded by Pettit and approved by all three supervisors.
The resolution is available for the public to view at the municipal office or go on the Internet and type in HB 2431, SB 1357 and read it online.
Austyn Flurer, son of Robert and Bobbi Flurer, thanked the Eldred Township supervisors for letting him work with the township for his Senior Project. He is a senior at Pleasant Valley High School. He chose 50 hours of community service as his project. He plans to clean the inside of the Chestnut Ridge caboose, located at the township municipal building, and mow the grass at the old post office in Kunkletown and maybe do some painting. He plans to begin immediately.
