Lehighton concert to benefit Haiti children

Published April 30. 2010 05:00PM

A free Candlelight Benefit Concert will be held beginning at 6 p.m. this evening in the Lehighton Park Amphitheater to raise awareness and funds for children of Haiti.

The concert was organized by Melodia Pyne of Franklin Township, whose son, Spencer, a second grader, wanted to do something to help with the situation in the impoverished nation.

"We call our organization, Students 4 Students," Melodia said. "Because it is truly children helping children."

As part of the project, they are collecting new or nearly new blankets to send to the children of Haiti.

The concert will have performances by Flux, Foreplay and other local artists. The main performers will be students of the Lehighton area.
