The family of Frank E. Ruff, Jim Thorpe, will host a kickoff event to jumpstart the 2010 Alzheimer's Family Fun Festival and Memory Walk.

The event will begin at 11:30 a.m., Sat., May 1, at The Flow Restaurant, 268 W. Broadway, Jim Thorpe.

Anyone interested in getting involved with this year's festivities and walk is welcome to attend.

This year's walk and festival will be held on Sat., Oct. 9, 2010, at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park, Jim Thorpe.

As part of the kickoff, the Ruff Family, together with the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, donated two sets of The Alzheimer's Project, a set of documentary DVDs about the disease, and a children's book to local libraries. The DVDs include films on The Memory Loss Tapes, Grandpa Do You Know Who I Am? with Maria Shriver, Momentum in Science and Caregivers.
