Thefts from unlocked cars in Mahoning Twp.

Published April 28. 2010 05:00PM

Some advice from Mahoning Township Chief of Police Ken Barnes to township residents:

"Lock your cars!"

Barnes said there were about a dozen incidents which occurred Monday night into Tuesday morning involving thefts from unlocked cars.

Barnes said the vehicles were parked in the driveways of the victims.

The incidents occurred at various locations in the township, including but not limited to Mahoning Drive West, Packerton Dam Drive, and Lower Nis Hollow Drive.

Some items stolen were wallets containing money, credit cards, and forms of identification. In one case a PA inspection sticker was removed.

"In all cases, the cars were unlocked," said Barnes, "therefore, being easy and accessible targets for this very preventable crime of opportunity."
