P.V. Junior High and Senior High holds band concert
CAROL ZICKLER/SPECIAL TO THE TIMES NEWS The Panther Valley Junior Band, under the direction of Joseph Ogozalek, warms up before their Spring Concert production at the P.V. High School. The band played a number of favorite renditions after high school principal, Joseph Gunnels welcomed the audience. Elementary Instrumental Ensembles, directed by Karen Grebousky, performed two numbers.
The combined performance of the P.V. Junior and Senior High School Spring Band Concert held everyone's attention this year as the performance started off with the presentation of the American Flag by the P.V. JROTC under the direction of Aric Shubeck, Carmen Caruso, Becky Doerr, Matt Shutter, and Chelsea Digiglio.
After welcoming remarks by PVHS principal Joseph Gunnels, the concert started with the Junior Band performance, directed by Joseph Ogozlaek. The band included Mama Mia and other favorites.
The Elementary Instrumental Ensembles performed "Chorale No. 2" with Abby Haas, Danielle Hudicka, Kaitlin GIles, Delana Nalesnik and director Karen Grebousky. The second number were the drummers doing a number to "Can O-Thunk" with Grebousky, Graceanne Weng, Anthony Tucillo, and Brenna Karnish.
The high school band, directed by Mark Christ, played a selection of tunes while performers, Gabrielle Booker, Kayla Melber, and Courtney Lazar sang "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". Booker then sang "Need you Now".
Director Christ announced that band members from 10th., 11th., and 12th. grades will be receiving certificates from the 2010 Tri-M Music Honor Society as inductees.
The combined junior and senior bands performed "Thriller" with three dancers to end the show.
