Tamaqua teen hurt in ATV accident

A Tamaqua teen was injured in an accident while operating an all terrain vehicle (ATV).

State police at Frackville said the 16-year-old was driving a Yamaha Sport along Oak St., in Delano Township, about 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, westbound and failed to negotiate a turn and struck a parked 1992 Catalina camper.

The teen was flown by medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for treatment of what troopers called were minor injuries. Delano Fire Company volunteers and Ryan Township ambulance personnel assisted at the scene.

Troopers cited the teen for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.
