Thorpe Air Force veteran to retire after 20 years

Master Sergeant Scott Glassic, son of Edward and Marie Glassic of Jim Thorpe, will be retiring from the United States Air Force on Aug. 1 after 20 years of faithful service.

Master Sergeant Glassic is the Section Chief of Security for the Mission Operations Directorate, Network Operations Group, National Reconnaissance Office, Chantilly, Va. Glassic provides superior operational support to the Mission Operations Directorate as the Section Chief, Program Security Officer for its largest and most dynamic group.

As Section Chief, he assists Program Managers in the understanding and implementation of NRO and National Security Directives and provides program security support to Network Operations Group personnel while working directly with the Personal Security Division, the Office of Counter Intelligence, and the Inspector Generals office. His outstanding leadership and superb management skills ensured the highest security standards are maintained for all Network Operations Group activities supporting the Mission Operations Directorate and the NRO.

Glassic graduated from Jim Thorpe Area High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in July 1990. Since then he has completed his Community College of the Air Force degree in Criminal Justice and his Bachelors degree in Homeland Security through American Military University. Master Sergeant Glassic's experience includes weapons marksmanship, Air Base Ground Defense Tactics, Law Enforcement, Antiterrorism/Force Protection, Base and Installation Security Systems, Information, Industrial and Personal Security, Adjudications and Program Security.

Glassic is married to former Jodi M. Jackson of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. They have three children, Nathan (age 6), Noah (age 3) and Mackenzie (age 8 months).
