State police at the Hazleton barracks said a 50-year-old man died in a one-vehicle crash Wednesday at 7:22 p.m. on the Quakake Road in Packer Township. Police said the identity of the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Carbon County Coroner's Office, is being withheld, pending notification of the next of kin. Police said the accident happened about one-mile east of Rt. 93 when the deceased was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer westbound. Police said the vehicle had two flat tires when the operator lost control of it and it struck a telephone pole. Police said the man was not wearing a seatbelt.
