Spring is here and with it came the Annual Spring Basket Spectacular sponsored by the Concourse Club of Palmerton.

The Spectacular took place Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and was held at The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church hall located at Fifth and Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton.

The event was celebrating its tenth year anniversary.

"We had over 54 themed baskets and donations signed up for this year," said Darlene Risteter, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee.

All the uniquely named baskets were made by club members and each basket had a thirty-five dollar plus cash value.

The door prize for this year was called Money Bunnies and was filled with $200 cash.

A bake sale and a luncheon featured over eight different varieties of homemade soups that were on sale throughout the morning and early afternoon.

"I have never missed a one of the basket spectaculars. I love to come to them, the baskets are so full of useful items and they are decorated so nicely," said Pat Davis of Palmerton.

Drawing for the baskets started at 2 p.m.

Tickets for the Annual Spring Basket Spectacular are on sale at the Palmerton Library and at the door the day of the event.

"Everything went as planned and it was another great turnout," added Risteter.

The club does not have the final totals but they do believe the attendance exceeded that of the previous year.

Last year's event totaled a grand $6,650 profit.

These monies were then donated to many worthwhile causes in the Palmerton and surrounding communities.

"We just thank all the people who supported our event and we hope to see them back next year," said Risteter.

The Concourse Club began in 1915, making it one of the longest running women's organizations in Palmerton.
