Two Monroe County teens are facing theft and related charges following an incident at the Kmart store in Mt. Pocono.

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported about 1:34 a.m. officers on patrol observed a vehicle parked near the outdoor gardening center lot. The officers then observed the vehicle back up and drive out of the lot onto Oak Street. Police noticed debris hanging out the rear door of the station wagon.

A vehicle stop was made and the occupants identified as a 16-year-old male form Long Pond and a 17-year-old male from Cresco. It was determined that the pair had stolen a bag of fertilizer from the store and loaded it into the back of the vehicle.

The 16-year-old was arrested and taken to police headquarters where he was processed and then released to the custody of his father. Charges are pending against the 17-year-old involved in the theft, police said. The charges will be handled through the county juvenile probation office for both teens.
