A bill introduced into the State House of Representatives to end Act 32 which was intended to consolidate state tax collection system was explained by two Schuylkill County State House Representatives to the Schuylkill County Tax Collection Committee which met Monday evening at the courthouse in Pottsville.

State Representatives Jerry Knowles and Neal Goodman are co-sponsors of House Bill 2412, which would end the weighted vote system.

In 2008 the state legislature passed Act 32 to consolidate the tax collection system but Goodman told the group it has not done what it was intended to perform. The law set a weighted vote system in which each delegate's vote is weighted by the area's population and earned income tax revenue. According to the State Department of Economic Development the current system loses $237 million in local tax annually.
