2 drivers injured in car-cycle crash

Mahoning Township police are investigating a car-motorcycle crash that occurred Friday afternoon at Country Club Road and Route 902.

Chief Kenneth J. Barnes said the accident happened at 12:24 p.m.

A 2006 Chevrolet Malibu driven by an 89-year old Lehighton man was stopped at the stop sign on Country Club Road at Rt. 902. The driver entered the intersection, and a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle driven by a 30-year old man from Summit Hill collided with the Malibu as the car was turning left onto Rt. 902.

The motorcycle left approximately 93 feet of skid marks prior to colliding with the Malibu.

The driver of the Malibu was taken to Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital and the driver of the motorcycle was airlifted to St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem.

The accident is still under investigation. Anyone witnessing or having information is urged to call Mahoning Township Police at 570-386-2241.
