The Tamaqua Area High School's fourth annual telethon and fist for the benefit of the American Cancer Society, Carbon-Tamaqua Unit, was most successful. The 24-hour extravaganza aired 12 hours on Saturday and 12 hours on Sunday, and ended with an estimated total of $15,065. The telethon was staged by the Tamaqua Area High School Media Club and was broadcast on Channel 13 of the Blue Ridge Cable Network and Channel 2 of Service Electric Cable TV.
