Volunteers sought as ombudsman for aging

Published April 10. 2010 09:00AM

The Pennsylvania Senior Corps RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) is looking for volunteers to help with the Carbon County Agency on Aging's Ombudsman Program.

Needed are people who are willing to visit and talk with people who are residents in long-term care facilities and help make a difference in their lives. An ombudsman can request a facility closer to their home and should have at least three or four hours a month available to volunteer.

Volunteers will receive training in order to educate residents, their families and providers about the rights and concerns of the residents. Concerns could be about treatment or quality of care or simple questions about residents' rights.

If you would like toconsider becoming anadvocate for area residents, call RSVP at (610) 377-2021, or e-mail
