A Tamaqua man has been cited following a hit and run accident in the borough on Thursday evening.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of West Broad and Lehigh Streets at 6:38 p.m. for a reported accident. At the scene, they learned one of the drivers had fled towards the area of the Bungalow Park. A short time later, he was apprehended and identified as Christopher Weston, 27, of Tamaqua.Weston was tested for driving under the influence. His BAC registered a .29, more than three times the legal limit of .08.He was cited for DUI, driving with a DUI suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving.The operator of the other vehicle, Bruce Kistler of Tamaqua, was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, complaining of back pain. None of the passengers, in either vehicle, were reportedly injured.
