Chief of Police Ken Barnes of Mahoning Township stands next to the new SUV police cruiser the township acquired. This marks the first time the police department has an SUV. It arrived just in time for the recent snowfall. Chief Barnes said one of the things is the new graphics on the vehicle. An older vehicle with the older graphics is seen in the background. According to Barnes, an $8,000 grant helped with the purchase of the 2009 Ford Explorer. Barnes said he thanks the board of supervisors "for working with me" regarding the purchase.
