Two jailed for Schuylkill incident
Two persons were jailed following a domestic incident in Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred about 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, along South Fourth Street, in Tower City.
Troopers said Kelsey Galie, 21, of Pine Grove, and Jonathan Hoffer, 21, of Tower City, became involved in a verbal argument.
During the argument Hoffer grabbed Galie by the throat and pushed her onto a couch and began to squeeze her neck and not allowing her up, causing minor reddening. About an hour later the argument resumed resulting in Galie striking Hoffer on the head several times with a beer bottle. The strikes caused Hoffer to sustain a large lump and laceration over his left eye, a large lump behind his right ear and a large lump on the back of his head as well as a laceration, troopers said.
Hoffer was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center South, Pottsville, for treatment of injuries which required two staples placed in the back of his head to close a laceration.
Troopers added that as Galie was being placed in the back of a state police cruiser Hoffer taunted troopers and engaged in tumultuous behavior, yelling at the troopers, flicking a cigarette at the patrol car and kick his foot in a fashion where his shoe would strike the patrol unit. Hoffer was advised several times to stop such behavior.
Hoffer and Galie were arraigned before duty District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah. Hoffer is charged with simple assault, persistent disorderly conduct and harassment. Galie is charged with simple assault and harassment. Bail was set at $15,000 percentage for both and neither could post the required 10 percent. Both were then transported to the county prison in Pottsville.
