PV earns top seed

Pleasant Valley closed regular season volleyball play with an important victory over Stroudsburg on Monday.

Pleasant Valley claimed the Mountain Valley Conference No. 1 seed for this week's playoffs with a 21-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 victory over Stroudsburg.

Kayla Dorney led the Bears' attack with 23 kills, nine digs, three blocks and two aces, while Priya Patel recorded a career-high 33 assists, seven digs and two aces.

Justine Maresca was 30-for-30 from the service line and also posted 12 digs and three aces, while Breanna Joseph (seven kills) and Crystal Cambria (eight kills) chipped in the PV win.

The Bears will now face No. 4 seed Pocono Mountain East at 7:30 this evening, while No. 2 seed Lehighton and No. 3 seed Stroudsburg will open tournament play at 6 p.m. Both matches will be held at Pleasant Valley High School. The finals will be on Thursday at Pocono Mountain West.

In the JV game, Pleasant Valley came out on top with a 25-15, 20-25, 15-9 victory over Stroudsburg.
