Valuable jewelry taken in Carbon

A burglary of a Carbon County home resulted in the theft of about $5,000 worth of jewelry.

State police at Lehighton said the incident occurred at the home of Richard D. Getz, of Interchange Road., Kunkletown, Towamensing Township. Troopers said entry was gained by forcing open a side door. Once inside the criminals proceeded throughout the home removing the jewelry from an upstairs bedroom. Also taken were Nintendo Wii video games from another bedroom.

The incident occurred sometime between 7:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
