Theft incident probed in Lansford

Published October 13. 2009 05:00PM

Lansford police are looking for the theives who stole metal from alongside the borough garage. The thefts of three sewer grates, a sewer grate frame, a manhole cover and a truck radiator occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday and Monday.

Other items had been stacked and ready to be whisked away. Officer Chris Ondrus said the items are heavy. "Obviously this is not a one-man operation," he said. Borough maintenance manager Toby Kracjirik reported the thefts to police.

Police ask that anyone with information about the thefts call them at 570-645-5844. All calls will be kept confidential.

In other Lansford news, a garage in the 200 block of E. Kline Avenue was broken into late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Storage boxes had been shifted around, and police are waiting for an inventory from the owner to determine whether anything was stolen.
